About RC Air
Welcome to RCair
I have been interested in aviation ever since being a young boy. I always wondered how those large aircraft were able to stay in the air. I started out with control line at the young age of 9 and started flying gas RC aircraft around the age of 18. Now in my mid 40’s I have switched from messy gas to clean electric. That old AM radio has also been replaced with 2.4ghz Spektrum radio. I have started this blog to share all my flying experiences and builds over the years. I am also getting into the wonderful world of FPV which is very exciting and brings a whole new aspect to RC flying.
About RCair……FLYING FIELD
Here is my flying field where I fly all my aircraft. For any aircraft I build and sell all flight tests are done from here.
The 2016 flying season is well under way. I have some holidays in August so I will post some pictures of my new electric biplane. I have already had about 10 flights but unfortunately my Park 480 motor overheated and now needs to be replaced.
PLANES IN MY FLEET
New to my fleet is the Flyzone DHC-2 Beaver. It is one of the easiest planes I have ever flow especially when approaching with full flaps. In the summer I have large tundra tires and for the winter months I use the floats.
I have always wanted to try some 3D flying so for a starter plane I went with the Hobby King Edge 540. Currently I am flying it more like a sport flyer but will be installing larger servo control arms this winter to increase the throws. I also don’t like the pull-pull servo located in the servo tray next to receiver. I will be moving servo to the tail of plane and will post some pictures shortly.
I am always busy building and tinkering around in the workshop so there will be many more blog entries to come…
